Yoshinori
Asakawa, Professor of Pharmacognosy at Tokushima Bunri University, Japan, and the world's leading
specialist on the biosynthesis and biological activity of the chemical
substances of bryophytes, has received the honorary doctorate degree (Dr. h.c.)
from the University of Lublin, Poland, on 17. May 2012.
Professor Asakawa is the author or co-author or more than 600 research papers, and 37 books and monographs, the majority of them on bryophyte chemistry. He is well known to bryologists as a frequent participant and speaker at international bryological congresses. Moreover, he has been a first recipient (in 1983) of the Hedwig Medal of the International Association of Bryologists for his outstanding research in bryophyte chemistry. Congratulations, Yoshinori!!
